Eagles News · Baseball Opens the Week 2-0

Eagles Opening Day vs The Trojans of Evans (Tuesday):

Your Eagles started the 2021 baseball season by impersonating the football team, scoring 3 touchdowns and a safety in hammering the Evans Trojans 23-0. The neighbors across the street from the baseball field must have called the fire department on us because there was smoke coming from our baseball bats the whole game. Super duel sport athlete Canaan Mobley let the way with 2 base knocks and 2 RBIs. Alex Deguzman and Will Murphy also added 2 hits a piece that would cripple the Trojans chances of competing against the fired up eagles on opening day.

Edgewater vs The Knights of Ocoee (Wednesday):

The Edgewater Baseball team defeated Ocoee 2-1 yesterday afternoon and extends the winning streak to 11 in a row. In fact the Eagle ballplayers haven’t lost a game since 2019! To take you back in time,  Avengers: Endgame was the #1 grossing movie, Lil Nas X “Old Time Road” was the #1 song, Stranger Things was the #1 watched Netflix show, and Dr. Shanoff adopted his infamous cell phone policy. Senior Andrew Brown threw an absolute gem hurling 4.2 innings, giving up 0 runs, and striking out 4. But it was young gun Sophomore Brady Appel who would earn the victory throwing 2.1 innings and striking out 5 of the 7 batters that he faced. Senior JP23 (Jeriel Pinto) was 2-3 with a double that missed a homerun by about a foot. The Eagle offense resembled an Infrastructure Trial as it took 7 innings for them to load up and plate 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th. The Eagle batters would load the bases after a Pinto single, and back-to-back walks, down 1-0 with 2 outs, the Eagles got a virtuous break as the Ocoee First baseman dropped a pop up to enable the improbable win. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.
