Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Edgewater Girls Soccer Player of the Week!

Congratulations Aliya for being selected by your coaches for Player of the Week!

Junior Aliya Lentowitz started out the season as one of our best wingers leading her team in assists.  She accepted the challenge moving to defense and has quickly become a key to our teams success.  A composed defender who is strong in the tackle and excellent in the air, Aliya is also very good at launching her team’s attacks.

Aliya has been playing soccer since she was four years old, and though she has dabbled in many other sports, soccer is her passion. After rec soccer starting at six, she began her competitive soccer playing in 2015 with CFC and is now with GPS club soccer and has been on the Edgewater Varsity team all three years of her high school career.

Playing various positions this year due to some unfortunate injuries to a couple of players, she has played her usual position of Right-Wing, while filling in at Right and Center Back. She is always looking for ways to help the team, one of the first players to pick her fellow teammates up when they go down during the game to make sure they are alright. Aliya wants the team to be the best it can this year, but let’s be honest; she is looking to win every game.

Aliya is participating in the STEM magnet program for the third year at Edgewater, focusing on Engineering and has started taking some of the entry-level classes being dual enrolled at Valencia. Keeping up with work and all the hours of soccer, she still has maintained a respectable 4.40 GPA.
